Welcome to Crossrigg Pedigree Holsteins

Crossrigg Holsteins

Situated fifteen minutes from the M6, Junction 40 in the North of England. Crossrigg Farm is a holding of 300 acres with a dairy herd of 130 cows plus 150 followers.

The Crossrigg Herd consists of a true type Holstein cow. Our goal is to breed cows from strong families and develop healthy trouble-free, long-lasting Holstein cows, with strong survival instincts which will last in any environment and have a will to milk.

We have been very pleased with the performance of the herd and the way they have classified. Service sires include Majestic, Pageant, Talent, Acme, Carisma, Goldwyn and Squawbuck.

The latest herd average is 9,920 litres at 3.93% fat, 3.33% protein.

The Herd

The herd is milked twice daily through a 14 x 28 herringbone parlour and housed in mattressed cubicles in winter.

A complete diet ration based on home grown rolled barely, grass silage, and custom mix, plus a top up of cake in the parlour, supplied by North West Farmers and fed by a Keenan Feeder. The cows are fed Total Mixed Ration all year round, and grazed at grass all summer.

Visitors and enquiries are always welcome.
